We absolutely love delivering CAP Life Skills.
We started running CAP Life Skills at the beginning of 2025, and have received fantastic feedback from members. This programme brings together an 8-week course focused on essential life skills, a supportive community group where people can learn from one another, and informal one-to-one coaching to help individuals to set goals and address the areas they find most challenging.
We’ve now run four courses and just started another, and have received fantastic feedback from participants, many describing it as ‘life transforming’ or ‘a great help’. It has also been a joy to provide a home-cooked meal most weeks. Many members have shared this has encouraged them to cook more for themselves and try new foods.
Leandra, a Life Skills member from our first course said:
The Life Skills course run by CAP has helped me socially and mentally, change my view on life. We live in a world where many feel overwhelmed, whether it is financial stress in my case, mental health struggles, rising living costs or just the daily demands of life. People including myself are stretched thin and that’s where CAP Café stood in. Not just with practical support, but with compassion, community and Christ at the centre. The Life Skills course has been more than just a programme it has been a journey, a journey that has equipped me with tools to take control of my life, for instance cooking on a budget, managing my money a lot better than I was, building healthy relationships and the list goes on. But most importantly it’s gave me confidence and hope. I have seen first hand the power of this course. When I first walked through the doors I was carry a lot of burden, fear and isolation, as the weeks went on there was laughter around the table, no judgement was felt by any of us. I began to lift my head again, felt part of a community, the love of Christ was in action. What makes the Life Skills unique, it wasn’t just about surviving, it was about thriving. It wasn’t a hand out, it was a hand up. It says you matter, you have value, you are not alone.
